Statement of Intent

Music Video - For my music video I intend to create a Love Story to fit in with this year's genre of Love. The song I have chosen for my video is “Save Your Tears'' by The Weeknd. My ideal audience are people aged between 16-24, people who like R&B style music and aesthetic and also someone that fits into the “Urban Tribe”.The idea for my music video is that there will be two main characters a girl and a boy, both young and in love but both find it hard to express their feelings for one another which makes things very unclear and difficult for the both of them which leads to mistakes being made and becoming a toxic atmosphere for them. I think this is particularly quite a relevant story for a teen audience especially now involving social media and having the unrealistic expectations of a teen romance. I think also the story fits in with the lyrics of the song but also fits into The Weeknd’s previous music videos. The Weeknd is signed with The Universal Music Group (

Point 4 - Genre Research

Genre Research The genre of my Artist is contemporary R&B / Soul music. My chosen song "Save Your Tears" fits into this genre perfectly. Contemporary R&B is a music genre that combines rhythms and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop and electronic music. Other famous R&B artists are Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder and many more. Soul music is a very popular style of music genre, it combines elements of rhythm and blues but also jazz. Some famous soul music artists are Lionel Richie, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey and many more. This genre of music was particularly popular in the 90s and early 2000s and then went out of fashion until around 2015 which is when The Weeknd started to peak in his career and was know for his R&B/soul genre of music.

For my website I have chosen to have the first webpage as a homepage, this will be an informative page with a couple short paragraphs including, career journey, background story, which music company he is signed with and a link to the artists music video.
